On Friday after a couple hours of school we went to explore Todos Santos. Mom drove in Mexico for the first time since dad stayed at the condo to work. We found a parking space and set off. We meandered through a few shops until we arrived at the large mission. We wordlessly went inside the majestic building and sat on the pews. We looked around the main inside-chamber-thing before going back out to peruse some more shops. After that we tried to find the Todos Santos beach. We went down some dirt roads for a while and finally got to a trail going to the beach. There wasn’t really anywhere to park so we decided to go check out the Punta Lobos beach a little south of Todos Santos. When we got to Punta Lobos the waves were crashing super hard and it didn’t look like a good swimming beach so we watched the fishermen for a while and then mom wanted to go check out the San Cristobal hotel that sits on the beach. It was pretty swanky and sometimes at hotels here when you get drinks or food at their bar you can use the pool. These guys wanted $60 per person to use the pool! So we sat and had drinks and dessert and left. Later my mom looked and they don’t allow kids under 12 there so that explains the dirty looks we were getting. Before we left Punta Lobos, mom and grandma went and talked to the fishermen and ended up buying four red snapper for dinner. Then we went back to the condo and swam in the pool with some new friends, Olivia and Zach.
On Sunday morning we all got sun screen on and went to a beach in La Paz on the Sea of Cortez. The drive was just over an hour and we heard it was a great place to snorkel. Unfortunately, it was one of the rare times I was really cold because the wind was blowing at like a million knots. The beach was actually beautiful but no one wanted to get in because we were so cold. We aborted the “mission” and went into town to eat lunch. We went to this place and I got this super good “combinacion” meal. It had a chile relleno, an enchilada, a quesadilla, a tostada and beans and rice. We walked along the malecon for a while and checked out a bunch of sculptures that were pretty cool. There was also a Mexican navy ship docked right by where we ate. After lunch we got some yummy gelato and then headed home. We stopped at a Soriana on the way home, but I stayed in the car with Ollie and grandma. When we got home, we swam again with Olivia and Zach until mom made us get out and come have dinner.
