Yay for old college friends! When we were planning our trip we thought we’d spend the majority of our time in or near Sayulita, just north of Puerto Vallarta. Then we started talking about spending half our time in Baja and half on the mainland. Not knowing
much about Baja I reached out to an old college friend, Brett Galbraith, who lives in Cabo. I told him we wanted to learn how to surf and he recommended Cerritos. We are so stoked we ended up at Cerritos beach. We love it here!
Brett and his wife Sherri graciously invited us over for Sunday dinner last week and it was awesome to meet his amazing family and visit their home in a sweet little Cabo beach community. Plus, I haven’t been called Frog in a long time (except from you Steph:) and it made me so happy when we jumped out of the van to “FROG!” So, the
Galbraith’s have made Mexico their home, their four kids were born here, and they switch between English and Spanish like it’s nothing at all. We loved hearing stories of life in Cabo, especially all the cool spots they’ve discovered and the friends they’ve made. They had the sister missionaries over and we got to meet some of their neighbors too. It was so cool catching up with Brett and getting a glimpse into an expat family’s life. Seems like they are living the dream for sure.

Before going to the Galbraith’s, we went whale watching in the morning. The boat left from the Cabo marina and we went right past the famous Cabo arch on the way out to find whales. As if on cue, when we approached the arch sea lions began playing in front of the boat and manta rays were
flying out of the water. When we got into deeper water, sure enough we started seeing water vapor from the whales’ blowholes. We’ve been seeing that happen from land so we were excited to see it up close. Over the two hours we were on the boat we saw a handful of whales breach

and it was exciting every time. The best part was when it happened right in front of us and then the whale dived so its tail came up and out of the water and landed with a big splash. What a cool experience for all of us!
